Pipetting Practice and Dilution Solution Advanced Kit (M3013ADV)

$2,799.00

Teach students about different variable volume pipettes commonly used in the lab, along with the skills to load a gel. Students learn to calculate different concentrations and understand the differences between a direct and serial dilution while learning how fluorescence detection works.

Description

Pipetting is a fundamental and ubiquitous skill used in the molecular biology lab where samples volumes can be very small and possibly even scarce. Learning how to use a pipette includes determining what volume range your pipette can dispense, dialing to the correct volume, dispensing into the correct location and techniques to ensure you are transferring the correct amount of liquid.

Dilutions are also another key technique since lab reagents are often provided as a concentrated solution that need to be diluted to a working concentration. In developing new products, protocols require optimization to understand which dilution factor and concentration provides the best results.

This advanced kit will give students the opportunity to learn about different variable volume pipettes commonly used in the lab, and develop the background to be able to load a gel. It will also provide the experience to calculate different concentrations and understand the differences between a direct and serial dilution. Dilution results are visualized on The Winston Fluorescence Reader (included) giving the students an opportunity to see how fluorescence detection works.
